Well, i was bored and wanted to put away that previous HUGE and LONG journal. ^_^'
So yeah, lets see. This list might be different tomorrow but lets give it a whirl.
5) Every japanese Horror flick, ever. XD
If it's Ringu, or the Grudge, or One Missed Call. They all have two things alike... One being that they care scare the freaking crap out of you. And the second being that America fails when they try to remake them. -_-
We watched the American version of One Missed Call in school once, and i was nearly falling asleep of boredom. I mean, the story's great ... How else, since they stole it ... But the build up and the acting is just horrible. Japanese versions always make you sit on the edge of your seat. These just make you tip over cuz you fell asleep halfway.
Japanese Horror Flicks, proving once again that Japan pwns America. ^_^ ... World War aside ...
4) Nosferatu.
No, Dracula isn't the first vampire movie. Nosferatu is! Why? Nosferatu is from 1922, and is still from the silent era. Dracula talks. ^^
Don't get me wrong, i'm a big fan of Bela Lugosi. (Which is the actor who played Dracula for you people.) But Nosferatu is simply the first.
Of course it's not the only reason why i like this one so much. The atmosphere for example is simply amazing. It was 1922, they didn't have much to work with, but damn.
The story's great too, but what takes the cake for me, is the music. It just stays at the sam, slow paste throughout the movie. Modern day audiences rely on sudden loud parts in the music or a change in it to get scare, or startled. But this just makes it even scarier, you'll never know when it's coming.
Nosferatu, because bald guys with long claws used to be creative and scary.
3) Dracula/Frankenstein
What? I didn't say Nosferatu was better. xD
These movies are just ... Wow. A lot of movies today hold some aqcuaintance with either of these. They're both so incredibly epic that it's stunning. Wether you're a kid or a senior, you've heard of these movies.
I'll start off with Frankenstein. We all know the story, so i'll move right on. Dating from 1931, it launched Boris Karloff's career. (Yes, he played the Monster.) But not only for is incredible acting, also for the casting at the end of the movie, for the actor who played the Monster, was just named "?". How awesome is that? It's like The Creature From The Black Lagoon, where they didn't cast the Creature at all.
Nice fact is that he also played the Grinch in the 1966 version of How The Grinch Stole Christmas. ^^
Frankenstein, don't call the Monster that, it was the Doctor's name.
Moving on to Dracula.
Also from 1931, Bela Lugosi is the reason why it's so good. Being the first Dracula (Yes, Dracula, not Nosferatu.) he changed the way Dracula talked forever, and it has been getting parodies for i don't know how long.
The movie is wonderful and a delight to watch, it's not really that scary these days, but as i said, it's just so epic. just say halfway the movie. "I'm watching Dracula." and you'll see what i mean.
Bela's last role in a movie, was in Ed Wood's Plan 9 From Outerspace from 1959. (Except for The Tell Tale Hearth, where he narrated.) Who is world known for being 'The worst movie ever'.
I can see why people say it, but i find it enjoyable and hilarious. ^^
Dracula, what more do you want? ^^
2) Brain Dead (Or Dead Alive in North America)
Granted, i saw this movie thanks to James Rolfe's review. But i'll try not to copy him too much with this.
Brain Dead ... Has to be THE goriest movie ever made. And that's saying a lot. I mean, the gore factor is just through the roof!
Okay, back to the normal review. xD
Altough i find it lacking when it comes to the story, that's not why i'm watching this movie. I wanna see people creatively get killed, damnit! Ever seen the death scenes in House Of Wax? Well, they are cute little kittens compared to even the lesser gory ones from Brain Dead!
... Except maybe when Paris Hilton dies, that one is just perfect. Altough i'd prefer a head-through-a-blender scene instead of a pipe-through-the-skull scene, but i'm not complaining.
Brain Dead, the only movie in the world that has a Kung Fu priest. (... i think ...) "I kick ass for the Lord!"
1) Aliens.
Altough also Sci-Fi, try showing this to a five-year-old without getting him new sheets the next morning...
The Alien movies have been in my fave films for a very long time. They're unbelievably creative, not only the Aliens, but the plot and scenery is unbelievable, even in this time and age. My fave of the four is without doubt the second movie, directed by James Cameron, who is known for the first 2 Terminator movies. This guy i love for his ability to make a sequel even better that the first, few people can do that.
Also, i have to point out that Sigourney Weaver is the best actress you can get for this movie, she shows emotion, she's badass and looks good with a gun. And she doesn't mind giving a good old "Goddamnit!" at the little cuties. Altough very good in other movies too (With that i mean Ghostbusters and Galaxy Quest mostly ^_^), this one is the reason why she's my favorite actress.
Oh dear, i seem to be babbling on about this one, so i'll round it up.
Aliens, the best Horror movie in my mind, because it sticks, it's epic, and best of all ... It has NO FLAWS! ... Except maybe the fact that my favorite character always dies in all four movies, but that's detail. -_-
Oh! And one more thing. Alien Vs. Predator! The idea is great and the first movie rocks, but the second one isn't to my liking. Why? Because altough the PredAlien is a nice touch, when do you ever get a good picture of him? The film's too dark, and i hate the fact that it's in a town. It kinda misses the original idea of being trapped somewhere without any chance of getting away.
Please keep these 'old' movies alive. Cuz i swear when you ask "Do you know Alien(s)?" and the responce is "Oh! You mean AVP?!" it makes me want to smack them. -_-
So yeah ... I'll be suprised if anyone will read this. xD
And people who know me well might be suprised as there are no zombie movies in the list. But to be honest, my number 6 movie is the original Dawn Of The Dead. Just so you know. ^_^
George Romero rocks.
And this is ironic, i try to get the big Journal away, and i replace it with another big one... xD
